UPRT

Upset Prevention

Aircraft upsets are alarming and high-risk events that are a rare an unwanted element in the world of aviation. The main focus of UPRT theoretical knowledge instruction is to look at what can happen, study the reasons why it can happen and facilitate methods to prevent students from ever needing to deal with an upset event by applying threat & error management techniques in order to avoid them.

Upset Recovery

Aircraft recovery techniques are routinely trained in the airlines using full-motion flight simulators. While this training is valuable, it is not possible to replicate the physical experience that would be encountered in real-life upset situations. For this reason commercial students are required to undertake FCL.745A Advanced UPRT training as part of their modular route to CPL/IR.

The Slingsby Firefly provides the ideal platform for delivering this training. Over three flights students are taken from the PPL "stalling package" through stalling & upset scenarios based on real-world events to incipient & full spins which may never have been encountered before. This provides invaluable lessons in the recognition of any upset event, while increasing the student's resilience and ability to recover safely.
